General Information

Objectives
The Middle East Medical Assembly offers a panoply of high standard educational activities for participants. Attendees can enhance their clinical skills, explore practice performance issues, present their own research or clinical experience, benefit from new and most advanced techniques, participate in sessions addressing specialty and multidisciplinary topics and interact with internationally renowned experts.

Venue
The XLII Assembly will be held on the American University of Beirut campus.

Accreditation
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation Center for Continuing Education and the American University of Beirut. The Cleveland Clinic Foundation Center for Continuing Education is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. MEMA also complies with the Lebanese Order of Physicians Continuing Medical Education guidelines.

Faculty Disclosure
The Cleveland Clinic Foundation Center for Continuing Education has implemented a policy to comply with the current Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education Standards for Commercial Support requiring resolution of all faculty conflicts of interest. Faculty declaring a relevant commercial interest will be identified in the activity syllabus.

Target Audience
This annual scientific meeting has been designed primarily for physicians in all specialties, residents, interns, and medical students. Many topics have been modified and would certainly benefit health-related professionals working in the fields of nursing, public health, social work, counseling, or physical therapy.

Scientific Exhibit
In addition to the lectures, case presentations, workshops and meet with the professor sessions, original scientific research and poster presentations, the Middle East Medical Assembly offers an opportunity for pharmaceutical and medical related companies to showcase in the scientific exhibition that takes place over 2000 meters of space in proximity to the lecture halls.

Gala Dinner
A grand gala dinner is scheduled for Saturday April 25, 2009 at the Intercontinental Phoenicia Hotel Grand Ballroom.
Tickets are for USD 150 per person.
All profits go to support medical student scholarship programs.

Registration
  • Fees are paid in cash on site starting April 23, 2009, at 2:00 pm. A photo identification will be requested upon registration.
  • There will be a special registration fee for the workshops.
Registration Fees
  • Free access to scientific sessions for medical students, interns, residents, exhibitors, invited speakers, and moderators with proper identification.
  • USD 50 or 75,000 LL for physicians with valid identification cards.
  • Free admission to designated general public lectures.
Registration Fee Includes
  • Entry to scientific sessions offering a selection from over 100 hours of CME with the opportunity to earn up to 25 hours of Lebanese Order of Physicians CME credit or AMA CME credit for US licensed physicians.
  • Opportunity to view scientific posters on display at the exhibit hall.
  • Four-day admission to industry exhibits.
  • A congress bag with final program and proceedings (Not included in free admissions).
  • A certificate of attendance immediately at the conclusion of the meeting.
