The XLI Middle East Medical Assembly continues its traditional role as the foremost, scientific, medical meeting in the Middle East in a determined effort to prove that we all work together to maintain and improve the highest standards of medical education and healthcare, in spite of the difficult times that Lebanon has endured over the last few months.
The Organizing and Scientific Committees have produced an excellent scientific program, thanks to the support and contribution of some of the finest international institutions and renowned experts from North America, Europe and the region. As in years past, AMA-approved CME points will be granted by our joint sponsor the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Our outstanding program this year covers a multitude of hot medical topics providing up-to-date information for the specialists and generalists. The renowned Johns Hopkins Breast Course will be offered for the first time in the Middle East and will provide a comprehensive insight to the latest in the field of breast cancer. The various medical, surgical and psychological aspects of obesity constitute one of our major themes and are supplemented by plastic surgery concentrating on body contouring. Infectious diseases, orthopedic surgery of the foot and ankle, coagulopathies, hemo-oncology and bone marrow and liver transplantation are all addressed in detail. Practical topics in pediatrics feature alongside molecular medicine and basic research. Last but not least, an update in sport medicine for the general practitioners completes this major scientific fair. Workshops are planned in parallel to provide precious handson training opportunities for the participants.
MEMA is not just a scientific meeting. The accompanying social program and gala dinner which are perfected by the Social Committee provide an excellent opportunity to sample the rich history and natural beauty of Lebanon and experience the famous Lebanese culinary skills and hospitality.
On behalf of the dedicated staff, I invite you to take advantage of this outstanding scientific activity and look forward to welcoming you in Lebanon, the cradle of civilization!
