Samir F. Atweh, MD is the Chairman of Neurology at AUBFM and AUBMC. He is a graduate of the AUB Faculty of Medicine. He completed his residency training in Neurology at the Massachusetts General Hospital of Harvard in Boston and Neuropharmacology fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Medical School in Baltimore. He served as an assistant professor of neurology and director of neurology training program at the University of Chicago, before joining AUB as the Head of Neurology in 1983, where he has worked since. Dr. Atweh became of Professor of Neurology in 1987 and has served in several capacities at AUB including Associate Dean for academic affairs and education, Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine, acting Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry and the founding Chair of the newly established Department of Neurology in 2011. He was president of the Lebanese Neurological Society and the Medical Chapter of the AUB Alumni association. Dr. Atweh is a member of several international scientific societies including the Academy of Sciences of the Developing World and the recipient of several awards. He organized several scientific meetings in Lebanon and the region including the Pan-Arab Union of Neurological Societies Meeting, The 50th Anniversary Golden Jubilee Conference of the Lebanese Order of Physicians, and two MEMA conferences in 1996 and 1997.
