Nour Alayan is an Assistant Professor at the Hariri School of Nursing at AUB. She completed her PhD in Nursing at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey (2017), her MS in Nursing at AUB (2008), and her BS in Nursing at AUB (2004). She received a 3-year Teaching Fellowship and a dissertation fellowship at Rutgers. She has been a nursing educator since 2012. Dr. Alayan’s research focuses on the treatment and prevention of addictive behaviors. She is specifically interested in biobehavioral treatment interventions and evidence-based Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) practices. During her doctoral study, she engaged in research training at the Cardiac Neuroscience Laboratory of Rutgers’ Center for Alcohol Studies, focusing on heart rate variability biofeedback as an adjunct intervention to maintain prolonged recovery from substance use disorder. She was also trained in addiction counseling and received certification in SBIRT for Unhealthy Drinking by the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors.
