Lama Mattar, PhD

Dr. Mattar completed a BSc and MSc in Nutritional Sciences at the American University of Beirut, Lebanon. She also pursued a PhD specialized in Eating Disorders (ED) at University of Pierre & Marie-Curie in Paris, France (2011). She broadened her experience by completing post-doctoral studies on hospital malnutrition at CHU L’Archet in Nice, France.

Dr. Mattar worked at various internationally renowned ED-specialized units for adolescents and adults, and contributed extensively to the development and writing of the French National Guidelines for the treatment of Anorexia Nervosa under the umbrella of the French Ministry of Health. She also publishes extensively on the role of nutrition in the treatment of ED.

Dr. Mattar is currently Assistant Professor of Nutrition at the Lebanese American University, and had previously taught as a lecturer at the American University of Beirut. She got awarded from the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs an Excellence scholarship (2010) and from King’s College in London, a research Excellence fellowship (2012).
