Dr. Ismail is a faculty member at the Psychiatry Department of the American University of Beirut. She served as the Director of Psychosocial Services at the Psychiatric Inpatient Unit (2014-2017) and is currently the Director of the AUBMC Treatment and Outreach Program for Eating Disorders (TOP-ED). Dr. Ismail is registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario as a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist. She completed her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at James Madison University in 2008, and is trained in the provision of multiple psychotherapy modalities including psychodynamic, CBT, EMDR and bodily based interventions. Her main duties within the AUBMC psychiatry department involve providing psychotherapy to patients with diverse clinical needs, teaching medical students and supervising M.A. psychology interns’ clinical work. She is, currently, engaged in research on eating disorders, inter-generational trauma, and issues of spirituality.
