Dutch Foundation of Masters in MS - Germany
Astrid Slettenaar is a nurse practitioner at the MS-center at Medisch Spectrum Twente; a general hospital in the east of the Netherlands. She joined the department in 1996 and assumed her nurse practitioner position in 2009. Astrid is also the president of the Dutch Foundation of Masters in MS. As an active member she participated in several projects to create a higher quality in the care for people with MS. The board members of the Foundation developed the “Dutch guideline adherence to first-line injection therapy in Multiple Sclerosis” in 2015. The guideline describes the factors that influence adherence; flu-like symptoms, injection-site reactions, fatigue, depression, (injection) anxiety and cognitive dysfunction. Astrid wrote a cookbook for patients with MS that has found it’s way to patients in several countries in four languages, she was one of the developers of the Multiple Shaker App and teaches nursing students research and MS. She started her second term as a board member of the Multiple Sclerosis International Certification Board in Newark (NJ).
