Cardiac Echocardiography (Tee) in the Perioperative Setting Workshop

Workshop Overview:

This workshop will provide a hands-on review of perioperative transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) including basic and advanced echocardiography. There will be formal didactic lectures and opportunities for the participants to ask the faculty questions prior to the hands-on session. The participants will have the opportunity to apply the theoretical concepts and perform TEE through Vimedix echography simulator. The hands-on session will include basic TEE views and real case clinical scenarios.

Target audience:

This course is designed for anesthesiologists, cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, intensivists, ultrasonographers, emergency medicine physicians, residents and fellows.

Course objectives:

• Evaluate and perform a comprehensive intraoperative TEE examination
• Acquire and perform quantitative analysis of mitral, tricuspid, and aortic valves.
• Utilize TEE as a monitoring modality during high-risk non-cardiac surgery
• Understand the role of TEE in complex clinical scenarios
